Beijing Dance Academy is an exclusive educational institution dedicated to the development of excellent professional dancers, choreographers, and dance researchers.
Since 2014, the Department of Chinese Ethnic and Folk Dance at the Academy has been dedicated to producing a collection of Chinese Ethnic and Folk dances. They have created five seasons with many special dance pieces that have received great responses from society. These dance pieces originate from 15 provinces, including Heilongjiang, Sichuan, and Tibet, and are inherited from local people representing over 40 different types of dances from 15 ethnic groups, including Han, Tibetan, Mongolian, Uyger, Korean, and Dai minority groups. Some of these dances are listed in intangible cultural heritage protection projects, while others are still passed down from generation to generation.
