In February 2014 Daniel URIBE, who currently works as director, was summoned by the provincial government to start one of the most important cultural projects in the province; the creation of the federal project: “BALLET FOLCLORICO DE SANTA CRUZ”.
This Federal project aims to perfect, train and contain young dancers and interpreters from all localities and thus provide a broad vision in relation to dance in Santa Cruz with the aim of professionalizing the practice.
This project is made up of 30 dancers, composed of holders and alternates as well as the Production team, the team of Musicians and Assistants representing the towns of: El Calafate, Rio Turbio, November 28, Rio Gallegos, Piedra Buena, Puerto Deseado, Caleta Olivia, Puerto San Julian, Pico Truncado, Las Heras, Koluel Kaike, Perito Moreno And Los Antiguos.
Currently the project within its repertoire has ten folkloric performances, which were assembled with the work and contribution of the most important choreographers in our country, such as Ariel Sosa, Florencia Passoni, Fernando Rodriguez, Leo Santander, etc.
Throughout this time the project has made artistic presentations in the towns of the Province of Santa Cruz. At national level, the ballet was named as the official cast for the television openings of the Festival “JESUS MARIA” ( Córdoba) 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2019 ”. And on other occasions, they take part in television programs “TU MEJOR SATURDAY” and “TU MEJOR DOMINGO”.
Currently the project is developed under different platforms in a virtual way in the framework of the pandemic, supporting different comprehensive training programs for dancers from all over the province of Santa Cruz with leading dancers who are members of our federal project.
The group has many prestigious awards and recognitions on local and international scale. It has toured in many different countries like Italy, Bulgaria, Turkey, The Philippines, Guam and others. It has won first place in an International Competition Saudi Arabia, 3rd place in the International Folklore Festival “Carpati”, Pitesti, Romania and many others. Throughout the years the group had received recognition from different institutions, some of which are The Congress Of The Argentine Nation, Senate Of The Argentine Nation and Inter-American Confederation Of Dance Professionals.
