VOU is Fiji’s premiere independent music and dance company, founded in 2007 as a collective of urban Fijian artists. VOU is the blending of old and new, traditional and contemporary.
The group performs traditional and contemporary Fijian music and dance. From the traditional Meke Iri or Fijian Fan dance to the more modern Fijian styles, VOU represents a taste of Fiji. The slit drums used are called the ‘Lali’ and they speak of their natural rhythms, of the tide, moon, and the cycle of life.
